Before you ask.
How is this billed - per seat, per estate, or per firm?
A platform fee per firm, and then per estate. Not per seat. Estate administration is matter work, so the cost should attach to the matter rather than to headcount. One fee per estate you administer, charged once, however long the estate takes to settle.
Where does Afterpath pick up?
After qualification. The estate arrives already qualified and Afterpath runs the settlement from there - inventory through final account and distribution. Qualification support is on the roadmap.
Do you support small estates by affidavit?
Not yet. A small estate under G.S. 28A-25-6 does not run a full administration, so it does not fit the model as it stands. It is coming, and we would rather say so than let you find out at intake.
What about unusually large or complex estates?
The published fee covers the great majority of North Carolina estates. For estates well into the millions, or matters with contested administration, we will agree the fee with you before you open the file - never after you have quoted your own client.
What does “design partner” actually mean?
Early-access pricing held for twelve months from signature, and sixty days’ notice before anything changes. We get your caseload as the test of whether the product works, direct access to your team during build, and the right to cite the practice as a reference.
Is the family portal available now?
The professional workspace is live and in use. The family portal with client configuration is in build - that is precisely the thing design partners are shaping.
Do you cover counties outside North Carolina?
Not yet. All 100 NC counties are covered with their own forms, fees, and filing practice. Expansion follows the same county-by-county method rather than a generic national template.
What happens to my data if we stop?
Full export of the ledger, the documents, and the audit trail in open formats. The estates are yours; we are the system of record, not the owner of it.
